  • Profiles of the Day
  • More at Japan Probe Friends...

TV personalities Bobby Ologun and Dave Spector are appearing in commercials for Konami’s new Star Wars game, which is available on Gree:

The clip contains three commercials. Bobby Ologun plays the role of a Jedi and Dave Spector plays the role of an Imperial officer.

In the first commercial, Bobby annoys the Jedi Council by yapping on about the new Star Wars game. In the second commercial, Dave Spector gets force-choked for boasting about the pun-tastic power of the “Dave Star.” And in the third commercial, Dave gets choked again for impatiently whining to Vader about the mobile phone game.

Who Will Warn The Japanese Reporter About His Unzipped Fly?

A Japanese TV show has a reporter conduct fake interviews with random people in 5 countries, all so they can see if people warn him about his unzipped pants:

China – The first woman interviewed notices his zipper, seems kind of embarrassed, and tells the reporter about it. The second person tells the reporter, and when he’s told about the purpose of the interview, he says that other people from Shanghai would probably also inform the reporter about the zipper. For the third interview, a girl tells her boyfriend to look at the reporter’s pants and then the boyfriend tells the reporter not to show his girlfriend such a weird thing. Another man waits until the interview is over and then informs the Chinese interpreter about the zipper situation. During the last interview, a random passerby shouts out a warning about the zipper. The final score for China: 5 out of 10 interviews. (Chinese are very direct about speaking their minds?)

Estonia – In the first interview, the woman doesn’t appear to notice the problem. In the second interview, a guy notices and laughs about it with his friends, but doesn’t explain when the reporter asks what’s up. A group of six girls can’t stop laughing about it, but are too shy to tell the reporter. The first person who actually tells the reporter is an older man who is having a beer. Another older guy is totally not shy and even pokes his finger into the open fly! The final score for Estonia: 2 out of 10 interviews. (Cold climate & shy people?)

South Sudan – Almost every person being interviewed appears to notice the open fly, but nobody tells the reporter. One group of men have a big laugh about it behind his back. Final score for South Sudan: 0 out of 10 interviews. (Having just achieved independence, the South Sudanese seem cautious towards foreigners?)

Japan – In a previous episode of the same show, Japanese people proved to be most helpful towards a reporter who had dropped fruit. Will they show the same helpfulness towards an open fly? Sorry – Japanese people seemed embarrassed. A few obviously notice, but don’t tell the reporter about it. One man in a stylish hat notices and points to the open fly and asking if it’s supposed to be a joke. And a pair of young men also notice the joke and are quick to point, laugh, and inform. Some girls notice and laugh, but are way too embarrassed to tell him, even when given hints. Final score for Japan: 2 groups out of 10. (Japanese people think about others too much, and want to spare the reporter embarrassment?)

Italy – In a previous episode of the same show, Italians were most likely to look at the breasts of a female reporter. They were also most unafraid to offer free kisses to a woman. They live up to their reputation for not being shy – every single group being interviewed informs the reporter about his open fly. Final score for Italy: 10 out of 10 interviews. (Regardless of age or gender, everyone’s friendly and direct?)
