Former Morning Musume Idol’s Ties to Organized Crime?

Earlier this week, the Japanese media reported about the latest scandal involving former Morning Musume member Ai Kago. It seems that her boyfriend has been arrested for attempted extortion:

The boyfriend, a 44-year-old restaurant manager, had attempted to avoid paying back loans by threatening his creditors. He said he had a close relationship with a boss from the Yamaguchi-gumi, Japan’s largest yakuza gang.

When police came to arrest the man, Kago was in the apartment with him. They had been living together since last year, so police have also questioned her about the alleged crime. Her relationship with the man caused her suspension and eventual departure from her last talent agency.

This is not the first time that Ai Kago has got in trouble because of her poor choice of boyfriends. Her career as a popular member of Hello! Project was destroyed in 2006/2007 after tabloids snapped photos of her engaging in underage smoking and dating an older married man. She had made a minor comeback under other talent agencies, but this latest scandal obviously won’t help her future.

As is standard practice with group photos or video used in television media coverage of scandals, people who are not involved in the scandal have had their faces blurred to protect their reputations. When it’s done with the faces of other idols on famous album covers, it almost seems ridiculous.

I wonder why Japanese girls like to dating or marriage an old guy like 30-40??? I mean, is it really important? I know Japanese girls are ridiculously materialism due to their social demand. But 20 yo with 40s is just madness!

Maybe they feel that men around that age can provide better financial security for them than a guy in his 20s? A lot of the Asians I’ve talked to (from various countries, not limited to Japan) seem more open to the idea of dating/marrying a guy that’s practically twice their age than a lot of the western women I’ve talked to. Frankly, I don’t see the appeal of it, but to each their own. There are still plenty of women out there that go for guys their own age.

ahhh…..there are all sorts of Japanese women. Read “The Sun” “Daily Mail” etc., you’ll find English girls dating or marrying older guys.Does that make you wonder why English girls like to dating or marriage an old guy ?

I’ve never been able to get behind the so-called “idols” having their careers demolished over stupid things that people will get over in a week or so, but this at least seems more reasonable. Of course, I’m sure nothing will come of it beyond that, but at least it’s a better career crusher than dating (even if the guy is married).

Yeah, I know, and it’s pretty absurd. I mean, anyone over the age of ten should be able to understand that they are human beings and have their own desires and faults. Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m against them becoming more popular because of ridiculous scandals or tabloid garbage, like in America.

she looks so much older than 23 in her recent pics. o_o I’m wondering if maybe she does other risky things besides sleeping with married men twice her age, smoking, and now dating yakuza (prob married too lol) twice her age. idk…i read the comment that she tried killing herself? well, u know the kinds of parents who push their preteen daughters into becoming “fantasy daughters” for otaku are usually like ^^ i hope she gets the help she needs ^^;;;
