Suicide Jumper’s Body Injures 4 People

A woman jumped in front of the Narita Express train as it passed through Shin-Koiwa station yesterday, causing a very messy accident:

The impact sent the jumper’s body flying onto the station platform, where it plowed into the glass doors of a convenience store. The door was shattered and shards of glass flew around. Four people suffered minor injuries.

WTF? All that glass by law in the U.S. would have to be tempered, meaning that no one could possibly have been injured by flying glass. Only in Japan, the country that still requires hideously expensive wired glass in certain (but not uniform) residential applications, but doesn’t require much cheaper (and lighter) tempered glass in a store front/commercial application.

My friend almost lost his hand due to an accident with an automatic door in Japan, because it was not tempered glass. Yes, he’s an idiot (and was even sober) but if you have a store the glass should be relatively safe for all the children and idiots exposed to it, much less in an EARTHQUAKE zone.

Why is it that NHK doesn’t carry these types of news? Only news about Kan and tsunami. Damn!! Why? Anybody feels that way and need a friend, I will be right here. Even if you are miles away I’m by your side So don’t you ever be lonely It will be alright.
