Butt Music, Disgusting Juggling, and Fart Power

A group of Masked Performers pull off some really amazing feats (most of which are silly and/or gross):

Their performance aired on Sunday night’s “World’s #1 Showtime” special. The audience consisted of rich VIPs, who would watch each act and decide afterwards on how much they would pay to see it. The Masked Performers received a score/reward of 381,400 yen (about $4,500).

I really feel old-fashioned, but I definitely don’t like seeing these kind of acts on prime time and on free TV. Vulgarity is plaguing TV (american real TV, fart jokes, degrading or insulting scenes) and should not in my opinion be shown on mainstream TV channels. It should be restricted to late night/cable TV. Some self-restrain should be shown by these TV channels (I am not asking for any external censorship or control). What about establishing an ethics committee in order to review the existing programs and new projects, like some TV channels have down recently? For these reasons, I stopped watching most live TV and watch only documentaries, movies, news and TV drama either from internet or by recording the programs of Hikari TV (many of the channels have better programming than the free channels).

As compared to what, some of the reality shows and programs you see on American or U.K tv?

For sure, I have never seen such thing on French TV (but 90% is crap there also, for other reasons). There are some trashy shows, but probably because of local sensitivities, there would be some public backlash if any free TV showed what is usually shown on the entertainment shows in Japan or, to some extend, american-style real TV. I think the TV channel might even be asked to remove the program from the TV regulating body.
