Paul Watson: Tsunami That Killed Hundreds of Japanese Was Divine Punishment

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Watson was killed by a whale brought by a tidal wave and crushed him?

For the first time ever I’m going to have to side with Watson on this one. It might be a crappy poem, but I don’t think there is anything in the poem that suggests that the tsunami was just punishment of Japan for whale hunting. Personification (“=a figure of speech which endows inanimate objects with human traits or abilities”) is a common poetic device and you don’t have to believe that the inanimate object is actually god or human to use it.

Gee… Paul Watson loves whales more than Japanese people.

Throughout the Bible, there are many examples that God punished evil person or evil nation not only on the earth, but after life too.
Historically, Japanese invaded, killed 20 millions of innocent Asians during WWII, from South Asia to northern Asia including China and Korea.

Though the Westerners and Americans know that Hitler killed 6 million Jews and 4 millions Europeans during WWII, and condemn America’s Atomic bombing on Hiroshima, most of the people don’t know how the Japanese invasion all over the Asia stopped.

Most ignorant people don’t know the fact only the atomic bombing could stopped the Japanese invasions and brutal colonization that was already going on in Asia more than 40 years (from 1905-1945) without international intervention. To stop this ongoing Japanese crime in Asia, America intervened and warned Japanese emperor, one week before atomic bombing, to stop all invasion, and gave up the forced colonization. Japanese refused, so America had to use the atomic bomb to stop their brutal invasions all over Asia. Finally after atomic bombing, more than 8 nations in Asia found their freedom again.

Also Animal Channels broadcasted series of the ‘ “Whale War” about Japanese wales ships’ unlawful fishing acts of whale around Arctic, where internationally whale protected zone. These Japanese ships were disguised as “research ship” but in fact there were commercial ships brutally killing countless whales days and nights. When international fishing regulation ships ( role as police)approached to Japanese ships to stop the violation, instead of keeping the laws, they started to shoot against these humanitarian regulatory ships which don’t have any guns or weapon equipments. Japanese’ out-law attitude like this frustrate me deeply as one of the global citizen. Somehow Japanese seem they can kill, invade, and attack other nations, or animals whenever or wherever they feel like.

To me God is just as He says in the bible all over , and punishes evil acts.

Stoking the “us” vs “them” fires has been a specialty of SSCS. Unfortunately this tactic (if you can call it that) has drawn a legion of trolls to their banner, and Watson has done nothing to stop this ugly group from being racist and phobic.

2 secs in, they use hundreds of frozen tuna picture they took at Tsukiji market in Tokyo as if to make it look as if that’s how dolphins are sold in Japan. They fabricated the subtitles (which is a nice trick because they made the film for non-Japanese speakers – by making an apparent bold lie saying it’s a love letter for Japanese), showing the footages from the mercury disease disaster in 70’s in Japan in the place called Minamata and use it as if to say that’s what happening in Taijii. Also they mention about Japan buying votes at IWC – which is true – but without mentioning US/Autralia/UK did the same in 70’s by buying votes from Peru and other S.American nations to put the ban on commercial whale hunting i.g. there the start of moratorium.

I guess his suppores do not know the issues well and get WOWed by The Cove because it does make a good horrer fiction. But calling it a documentary is a blasphemy against to journalism

Mr.Watson, I am from Sendai, Miyagi, Japan and my home town is now devastated and so many people died because of the “wrath” as you put it. But I want you to know nobody in my home town even fish whales or dolphins, thank you very much.

I have some questions for you.

1) Nice publicity comment about “I didn’t mean to say it about Japan” caring for media bashing (unfortunately, no Western media is paying attention to you. Just Google, how many articles of yours in terms of this can you find?) but you know your position very well don’t you? Aren’t you against to any whaling – unlike Green Peace – and didn’t SS just make the fake documentary called The Cove? So, why didn’t you think of that before posting your ‘poet’? Are you that idiot as I call, or just insensitive as some of your supporters say here or you think you have no connection with your publicity and Japan at all? (Please don’t give me your freedom of speech lecture)

2) The reason why I am calling the film The Cove a fake.

A. You are showing hundreds of frozen tuna at Tsukiji market in Tokyo, 3 secs in the start of the film. Sorry again, was the film about tuna or dolphin? Anybody who knows the issues better than you got confused!

B. You fabricated the subtitle. You know which one. The guy from fishery ministry didn’t get fired after he said what he said. Nice trick because most of the viewers (non-Japanese speakers) don’t even realise that.

C. Showing Minamata disease from 70’s to try to make it look as if that’s happening in Taiji now. 3rd nice trick for people who really got no clue about the issue at all!

D. True about Japan buying votes at IWC but the same was done by US/Australia/UK in 70’s. Why didn’t you mention that to at least try to balance your “point”? (Well I hope ppl who watch the film AT LEAST knew about this!)

3) As I am from Sendai, so just to try to show your “humanity” you might reply to this post and might try to give me some kind words. (Which I doubt but just in case) So I will say this before you take such a quasi-humanitarian action, if you really feel sorry for what happen to ppl in my home town, then delete this post. People, if you agree with me, then please “like” my comment. I am sure Mr.Watson, you have no such real guts to do that because all you care about is your self, so enjoy your feel-good / do-gooder life. Paul, I am utterly ashamed that I had ever religiously supported Greenpeace during the 80s while you were at the helm. I faithfully gave funds and dedicated my time. Now, I feel like I was conned. If there is a God or Supreme Force, I hope It can forgive me for being so foolish. No thoughtful human being would make such insensitive and racist comments. More than the value judgments you are making on another culture is your supreme arrogance to the point that you are making a god out of yourself by assuming that you know something about divine intervention. This is not the first time I’ve seen such Watson-like arrogance: many moons ago, you and your gang of vigilantes blew a hole in the side of an Icelandic fishing vessel. At that point, I vowed never to have anything to do with any organization that bears the Watson name. Your plight against whaling has become mere fanaticism. For one, I can tell you, as someone who has lived in Japan for the past 25 years, and is happily married to a Japanese wife, that very few people eat whale meat here, and I have never been served it once. Yet, even if ALL Japanese people ate whale meat (which is far from the case), it isn’t your frigging place to judge another culture. You are just as bad as the fanatic anti-abortionist who blows up abortion clinics, or the Squamish five who blows up BC Hydro power stations. Evil does not justify evil (and I am by far ensuing that eating whale meat is evil; but your actions clearly are). Let me give an example to elucidate my point: I eat neither pork nor beef. One reason I don’t eat pork is for religious reasons. I don’t eat beef for ethical reasons: cows are a major contributor of methane gas emissions resulting in global warming. But do I push these on others? Certainly not. In fact, my wife and kids eat both beef and pork, and I make no judgments or impositions on them for doing so. They don’t tell me to eat these types of meats, and I don’t tell them not to. It’s a personal decision. Effective teachers teach by example, not by bandstanding or inciting hatred.

As was mentioned earlier (by a previous commenter), which is worth more: a human life or an animal life? Both have value, but anyone with the least amount of common sense would realize that is a human life, with few exceptions such as Hitlers and Clifford Olsons, who by any standard have given so into either hatred or corrupt desires that you do not need to be a god to judge their acts as evil . But common sense aside, to insinuate that an act of nature is divine punishment is utterly backward and inhumane. Mr. Watson, if you truly want win people over to your cause, win hearts through LOVE — not hate — otherwise, you deserve to be served on the same platter as Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh and all the other nonsensical haters in the world. But as I am LOVER — not a hater — I would never wish such suffering on any fellow human beings. Now, ‘fess up, Paul, and give us ALL an apology. This is a tragedy which has happened here in Japan. Tsunamis and earthquakes are acts of nature, and to attribute them to God or gods is completely unscientific. Further, it is very, very inappropriate to ridicule another nation in such a way. You’ve lost my support, Paul, and I hope others will wake up and follow suit. You are not holier than thou, so get off your high seat.

PS…FYI, a group of Japanese rescue workers rescued a washed up finless dolphin in Miyagi-ken today. I wonder whose actions are speaking louder. I am very proud to now make Japan my permanent home. We come together in such times of need, and do not pillage and loot unlike some parts of the world. Not to put all Japanese on a pedestal, of course. Most of us are ashamed of TEPCO and certain elements of an inept political system. Moreover, in the wake of such tragedy, we have had some fly-by-night groups taking advantage and collecting funds for so-callled charities which are not charities at all. However, these misdeeds of a few do not represent the way of the nation as a whole. We are a loving and peaceful people.

I agree after watching The Cove that I believe it is mother natures way of saying stop it happens often its the same way about most natural disasters  its god way of letting us know he does see all that we do
