I know it’s meant as tongue in cheek but I can already see that it will anger people thinking it’s stereotyping Japanese. Not to mention people out there that think this is TYPICAL of Japanese behavior, eating sushi off a naked body!

I agree. It started in underground society of Japan, but has become more interested or actually presented in the West. In main stream society its act will be a scandal in Japan.

I think most people think of sushi as something somewhat expensive. Eating it off of a semi-naked body would obviously make it considerably more expensive. Only the most blatantly ignorant people would think this is TYPICAL of Japanese behavior, and they are the type of people you can’t get through to anyway. You seem to worry about what other people think about Japan way too much.

Wakame-sake goes very well with sushi, nyotaimori-style.
Next time they should show what wakame-sake looks like.

Wakame-sake is originally a Shinto ritual in which a priest pours sake into the pubic region of a virgin before an emperor sleeps with her wishing for a baby boy. It was not intended for drinking as practised by many Japanese these days.

As long as I know, nyotaimori was an urban legend in Japan that had been propagated from fictional stories in obscene magazines in the 1970s. I remember that, in the era of the economic bubble, a shady hot-spring hotel got into minor news as it actually started to do nyotaimori, but the business did not last long since the bubble burst soon.

Since foreign correspondents in Japan somehow love to report any sex-related news stories even when they are hired by respectable news agencies, nyotaimori has become famous among people who are reading English-language news stories about Japan. The story that keiko wrote above would be reported soon by foreign correspondents in Japan. LOL
