Yes. And it would also be “cute” if it was from 1890′s America “fighting to keep the Philippines American”, 1840′s Britain “fighting to protect our drug dealers in China” or anywhere else.

I just won a bet with myself – i gave it an hour for a comment like the above to appear.
You know if this card put a smile on a soldiers face when he received it – maybe with some nice words from his wife/kids written on the back – and it eased the pain of sitting on some god forsaken pacific island, its fine by me – regardless whether he is japanese or german or american.

The interesting point is that a Soviet or Nazi card would not have featured a cartoon little girl, it would have featured a piece of socialist realism or a heroic SS man or something like that.

So yes, the Japanese card is cute. Cute and creepy, considering the militaristic subject matter.
