Obsessed With Toy Trains

I think it would be fair to say that this mother in Japan has an unhealthy obsession with toy trains:

She says she started doing it because her kid likes trains, but she’s the one building the tracks, and she seems to get the most enjoyment out of it all.

That is so awesome. What a wife!

In Britain it is the husband’s job to build huge model railway or slot car racing layouts “for the children to play”.

I wouldn’t call it an unhealthy obsession at all. I have seen train fanatics build much more elaborate structures. What she does is quite clever. As a mother of a train fanatic kid, I myself, will go out of my way to build tracks for him until he learns how to build them himself (in fact he LOVED this video, thanks for posting! It inspired my boy to drag out his プラレール too.) In fact her structure for lunchtime is an inspiration and quite clever. I wish I had enough tracks to do that as well but we already have a remote control Shinkansen track set that delivers food for tables, no worries about kids falling off chairs LOL. We mothers will do what we can to please our kids and enjoy it as well ourselves. Makes me think of my home back in America, my parents would enjoy setting up my elaborate toys for me to “play” with though they were the ones that were really enjoying it. Not unhealthy, more adults, with or without kids, should go out of their way to enjoy life like this!

I would personally opt for some more advanced electric model trains, but I doubt a 30v Lionel triple track would go well with a bathtub.
