They have to do mock attacks cause the real thing hardly ever happens.

They should do a cop swap with Brazil or South Africa and give them some real field combat.

There’s a classic scene in the Paul Newman movie, Fort Apache the Bronx (1981). If you search YouTube for “Fort Apache the Bronx, knife” two videos should pop up featuring Newman as officer Murphy disarming a crazy knife-wielding man using an unconventional method. The original screenplay is based on the real life experiences of former NYPD detectives Mulhearn and Tessitore.

I like how the people carrying the shields have them center to their body, good for a reach around stab.

As opposed to carrying them on their heads? Sorry, I’m not quite sure I get the point… though I’m sure the cops would if the sheilds were anywhere but in front of them (hardy har har) ;-P

If they had a baton they should hold the shield more on the side of the body that they are not holding the baton. If they don’t have batons they should move in groups so that there is a wall.

The point is, if the person with the weapons can reach around the shield, you are in trouble.

Laughable. Not the training, you gotta teach cops disarming procedures.
(though apparently they’re not doing it very well)

But the fact they’re publicizing it.

Remember, when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

If some nut jumps up with a knife, I think the Newman routine might work, until the J cops show up and arrest YOU instead of the Japanese guy waving around a knife.
