Got to love Aoki and the Ads they make. Never Dull. They have also used some really famous people in the past.

And the irony is, if you’re over 180cm tall, and/or have long arms and/or wide shoulders; you’re pretty much wasting your time going to Aoki or any of the cheap Japanese suit stores.

From my experince of a wasted Sunday or two at 5 of these outlets, all the cheap suit shops in Japan can cater to the “extremes” of a tallish thin kid, or short and fat for the 50-something buchos. And they may have 2 or 3 tent-sized suits in case a rikishi shows up. But basically anyone on the right half of the gaijin height or weight bell cuve should just head straight for the custom suit counter.
Or better, save all formalwear purchases for abroad.

It’s not always a waste of time going to Aoki if you are big or tall; they have special sections in some of their stores for those who are taller or wider. Take a look at their website for details.

It took me a few seconds to connect the title of this post “White People Like These Suits” and the actual Aoki commercial. That’s because I didn’t immediately associate being flanked by Western bimbo models or hostesses with being “liked by white people”. Scenes like that are a dime a dozen in any hostess club employing Western women.
