Japanese Comedians Interview Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz

They do one thing I really hate that seems to get taught to a lot of Japanese – instead of the un-un confirmation grunt in Japanese (there’s a word for that that I’ve forgotton), they are told to interject with “Oh, I see”, “That’s really interesting”, but it often sounds so unnatural and wrongly-timed – Cameron gets cut off towards the end of her bit, for instance.

There must be a clip of a foreign star getting pissed off by that or the usual “get a few twats to ham it up” carry on.

Oh, and that show pisses me off immensely – not just Shunsuke san but also the bit where they send people off to remote corners of Japan to try to scout schoolgirls as bikini models for a weekly manga.

Before the comedians were given a one-month English cram course, they should have joined
Scientology which assures every follower that they can immensely improve any skills
including command of English. Tom Cruise, a Scientologist, would have been a lot happier to
speake with his fellow Scientologists.

I can just imagine what would happen if they squirted water in his face…

I remember an interview a good 7 years ago on MTV Japan with the Beastie Boys, it was so hilarious. The guys were making total jokes about the interviewer’s questions knowing full well that they couldn’t understand any of the answers. One of those keep playing along with each others’ stories bits. Funny stuff. Wish it were more common.
