McDonald’s Cuts Menu Prices

McDonald’s Japan has temporarily cut the price of a Big Mac from 320 yen to 200 yen (until August 26th):

This FTV news report notes that McDonald’s move to cut the price of one of its most popular menu items is part of a price war between Japan’s major fast food chains. Several beef bowl chains have slashed their prices, creating a situation in which McDonald’s could lose some of its thrifty customers. The company that operates Sukiya is aiming to dethrone McDonald’s as the top-earning fast food chain in Japan.

The next phase of McDonald’s price-cutting campaign will come on August 23rd, when it will lower the price of McFlurry ice cream from 300/330 yen to 190 yen.

Does McDonald’s provide nutritional info on stuff it sells in Japan?

I recently had a Big Mac in the US. They had a newly-designed box with
nutritional info on the bottom. I was shocked to find that a Big Mac
provices 560 calories. Yes, FIVE-HUNDRED and SIXTY calories!!!!!
It used to be just 520 calories last year. Not sure why or how they
added 40 extra calories….

560 calories for one burger…. I might as well eat a bowl of ice cream
for lunch.

Yes, McDonald’s and almost all chain restaurants provides calorie information, though through their website.

Stuff may be terrible for you, but man, a Big Mac can be delicious on a rare occasion. I still have one a couple times a year, and generally speaking I eat a very healthy mostly veggies, fruit, fish, & chicken diet.

The customers can really profit from these price wars, but one has to wonder how low the fast food chains can drive their prices before it affects the quality of their products. Well, for now they surely can make use of the exchange rates when importing the ingredients and resources, I think that’s one of the reasons while the prices are so low at the moment.
