ATV’s foreign reporter team [included Sahel Rosa] visits the National Maritime Research Institute and check out a machine that can make a heart shape in a water pool:

Apparently the machine can also be used for safety-related tests, and the shape-drawing thing is just added perk. They also check out a much larger pool, which has a similar water manipulating device in it.

You could see the look of utter shame that tall dude had on his face @1:45 after he said “さすが日本だな” and again at the end when the woman drops the “日本人はすごい.”

I really hope the shape-drawing thing is just an added perk. Costing at LEAST the equivalent of a million dollars for a tank that sophisticated, if they were using it solely for drawing shapes on the water I’d have to go hit somebody in charge somewhere.
