Can he make it worth buying? That would be an impressive trick.

Camera tricks. What you can’t see is where the magic happens. At the end when he moves the iPad out of the frame, he hands it over to that other guy. Then 2nd guy brings it back into the frame and voila, it looks like he magically appeared. His clothing give him away.

What!? You mean this isn’t real magic!?
I’m shocked! Shocked I tell you!!!

Unrelated to video, though related to concept of Ipad release in Japan (I believe it was yesterday)
I can’t help but feel the Ipad won’t sell in Japan. Japanese media society revolves around the cellphone, and the ipad requires computer connectivity, making it unpractical to the Japanese.
Mark
Unpractical? Impractical perhaps.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how well it sells, but it must be said that the Japanese love their brands and high-quality well-designed products. Also look at how well the iPhone has sold, despite a lack of Japan-specific features common in most other cellphones sold in Japan.
Although it needs computer connectivity to start with — a feature I can only think they *must* overcome in a future version of the OS — once synced the first time, it can be used on its own for most of its time. Connecting to one’s computer periodically does also provide an automated backup of all data, so it has its uses too.

From what I noticed and have read, the iPhone has been doing poorly in Japan. Good as a foreign phone in the market, but bad compared to
In my time in Japan, I only knew a handful of people who had iPhones. Almost all of them were foreigners, or Japanese who had lived in America. The one person with an iPhone who wasn’t either or those was a friend of mine, and he hated it because he couldn’t do anything on Safari compared to what Japanese phones can do (MIXI, which is like Japanese facebook, cannot be run on Safari) and was frustrated because the battery was really bad compared to the phone he had before it.
I guess I just need to get out of the habit of thinking of the iPad like a big iPhone.

THAT was the most incredible magic I have ever seen!!!
And it was all thanks to that iPad!
The magic that has been done for hundreds of years is all lame now compared to this video!
HOW did he do all that?
The iPad is just the most amazing thing ever! If it wasn’t for the iPad there would be no magic worth watching.
The best part of the magic was how he got a very noisy motorbike to idle and then drive by from 1:10 to 1:40!
Sidenotes.
@1:50> That white stuff shooting up from below his waist was very exciting to watch!
@2:20. How did he get that asian girl to appear!?? or is that a gay guy? girl or guy it has a very bad haircut. The magician should try to fix that with the ipad.

@ 2:04, did he almost drop the iPad or was it because he wanted to make the fork magically appear? If it’s the latter, he kind of failed, hard.
Anyway, this reminds me of PhoneMagician on Youtube, he was quite a hit back in the days.

The most amazing part about the whole routine is how the dove doesn’t fly away after he puts it down on the side table. Gee, I wonder how well his act would go if the camera didn’t move so much and put so much out of frame and prying eyes.
Chris Angel’s street magic act similarly benefits from cooperative onlookers who are recruited to help him perform his slight of hand. As well as strategic camera placement and editing. You can’t really trust much of what you see on TV.
Sandy
That was pretty cool. It’s a shame he went out of synch with the video.

i like the backpack guy at the beginning just ignored the ipad crew there

The only thing magic about this is that someone actually bought an iPad.
Seriously though, if you’re going to call it magic make sure you have the timing right. Watching things slide off the pad before you move it makes you look like an idiot.
Nothing tops tricks like this over what Cyril did at LaCoste in Tokyo with his cell phone and a live baby alligator.

This guy’s video was featured on the front page of The HUFFINGTON POST and now he has over 400,000 views…. about 10,000 per hour right now.
Guess that was the best magic trick ever to go from “Who is this guy” to “The iPad Magic Guy” in just 2 days.
Look on the right side column under the section heading TECH.
It should be on there for a few more hours (unless PM Hatoyama resignation bumps the guy off the page)
