Keisei Skyliner Commercial

A TV commercial for the new Keisei Skyliner train, which will begin service between Tokyo and Narita Airport in July:

One of the slogans used in the commercial is “Japan Speed” : I guess it can’t hurt to remind Japanese people that the train is Japanese.

God, our tecnology is so not advancing much and who to blame-> Corporations, some science men say that if corporations leave aside thier greedy when can build ultra fast means of transportation. like two hours from China to NY or so. Japan is by far, the most advanced in transportation, yet we all could have what I wrote in previous line if corporations were not, again, so greedy. Come to think about it, will they be profit If you had it all???

Technology isn’t advancing enough? In my opinion it’s advancing too much, just compare your computer to the one you had ten years ago. The only area I’d say we aren’t “advancing enough” in would be the automobile industry. Sure we have eco cars and electric cars, but we still use a lot of oil, which we should really lay off of considering all the recent oil spills. This all comes down to economies of scale. If we use alternative energy sources the initial product will be expensive, but the more and more you produce the cheaper it becomes. I remember my econ professor saying that oil companies would stop building rigs and switch over to a new form of energy by 2010, but now it’s 2010 and we really haven’t seen a change. As far as I’m concerned trains are fantastic.

Meh, I say the regular Keisei line works well enough. If you take the regular express, it’ll take a little over an hour from Ueno or Nippori to Narita Airport, and should be a lot cheaper than a 36 minute ride on the special train.
I guess this train is meant for people who have lots of money to burn, are always in a rush, and can’t be bothered to check which train goes to Narita (many trains initially leaving Ueno/Nippori in the same direction branch off to other destinations).

…and for those people for whom time actually is money, this train is worth the additional cost. Even at 2,400 yen, it’s still cheaper than the Narita Express (against which the Skyliner competes) or limousine buses.

I think the new trains will be a hit, both with tourists and business travelers, especially for those living in southern Saitama and northern Tokyo.

Huh, hopefully this new train will be a bit faster than the regular and special trains that go to Narita; I was shocked in the “official” time difference it takes either of those ones was only like 5 minutes or so. I guess I am used to special trains in Tokyo not taking as much time…
