Weird Underwear Design Contest

This video of the Triumph Inpsiration Award 2010 Contest is one of the most popular videos on YouTube Japan today (from Sankei Shimbun):

Several weird underwear designs are shown. The winner was a shell and bird combo “forest bra.” At the end of the clip, you can see the winning design next to the cabbage bra that won the 2009 contest.

And in case you missed it, here is Triumph’s bizarre rice farming concept bra, which was unveiled at a PR event last week (-it’s just a gimmick: they don’t actually sell these-):

I use bras in the garden. They’re good when you’re growing, um, round fruit and veg like, umm, melons…

The forest bra is really pretty! I wish things like that were for retail. It seems strange to see Triumph do something like this when in reality their lingerie is so dull.

Oh, you mean like the highly publicized annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show, not to mention the myriad of lingerie clad celebrities and models that fill all the magazine covers like FHM, Maxim, Sports Illustrated, and dozens of other media outlets?

Yeah, sure looks like Japanese are the only ones that drool and giggle over bra’s and the like.

Funky designs are cool and all, but wearing those under your regular clothes seems like it would make one’s chest region all chunky and tumorous looking. I’m not sure that’s the silhouette the ladies are looking for …
