Japanese Sea Shepherd “Fan Club” Enjoys Whale Meat Feast

A group calling themselves the “SEA SHEPHERD JAPAN FANCLUB” enjoys a whale meast feast while wearing parody SS t-shirts and Paul Watson masks:

This seems to be an attempt at some epic trolling with the hope to annoy and anger actual supporters of Sea Shepherd. Their website includes images the images they used to make their t-shirts, as well as links to a Japanese-subtitled version of the South Park episode that made fun of Paul Watson. They also have a Twitter account.

  Believe it or not, I think that the internet isn’t nearly as popular in Japan. While in Japan I experienced a few oddities regarding the internet; Wifi was far less commonplace than where I come from in Scotland, Yahoo is more popular than Google, sites are generally less professional in their design and a lot of big sites use the “cram as much stuff as we can onto the screen” approach which winds up looking really messy. There were less businesses that you could access online too, stuff like that. A bit weird, but that’s what I saw.

    Actually it’s not that the Internet isn’t popular, it’s just that far more people access it (frequently) via their keitai than with a full computer browser. And since most current keitai browsers are simple WAP browsers that don’t follow any particular set of HTML standards, a lot of Japanese websites simply don’t utilize any proper design.

BTW, do you know that PETA euthanize more animals than all the animal control agencies in the WHOLE USA?

I think Japan is being unfairly targeted.

What is Sea Shepherd’s position on the consumption of dog mean in South Korea?
(especially since Sea Shepherd has a couple of Korean members, as seen on TV)
They don’t seriously believe that it’s okay to protest against whaling just
because the Japanese hunts down may be dozens(or hundreds) of whales…. and
yet it’s okay to slaughter thousands of poor dogs in Korea?

  Actually the consumption of dog meat in korea has gone down dramatically in the last decade.
  And its not like the use just any dog. There is certain kind that they used. Now dog meat is not favored among koreans, so since demand is almost nil supply is going down, Plus there isn’t much room to raise dogs for meat in korea.

To me the only problem with the hunting of whales is how they are killed it can’t feel good to be shot with a harpoon and bleed out, also the same issue I have with how they kill dolphins. As long as their not killing species that are endangered I really couldn’t care less.

More power to them for eating what they love, I’ve eaten whale before, it to me it doesn’t taste bad, but it doesn’t taste good enough to warrant the price. Also some of those canned meats looked nasty! looked like dog food. But I do have to applaud them for the “I <3 fat douche" t-shirts.

  Well how else do you kill a whale? You can’t stop the bleeding, they’re enourmous. I’m american and eat meat, but I often think about all the downed animals and the fact that many animals aren’t unconscious as law says they should before they’re bled out and slaughtered. Peta/sea shepherd (Even though they’re canadian? Whatever) Should get on those problems before they attack another country’s centuries long eating habit.
  
  Also, eating whale is a sticky situation. There’s no room to farm them for food, no one’s just gonna stop eating it. I see no real solution :/

  Whaling is not as cruel as the factory farming techniques used around the world. Would you rather be born as a pig, living in it’s own filth until it’s fattened up and euthanized, or a whale, that get to swim around the world and be free until a japanese guy sticks a harpoon in it?

There’s been an awful amount of fuss about the blue fin tuna and then whales?

What in the world is the big deal seriously? Are they like endangered? Why are people literally trying to force so strongly what people should and should not eat! Is there an actual rule out there that says sorry whales are restricted for catching and consumption? What does the WWF (World Wildlife Federation) think of this?

  As you say, the real test is whether or not a species is endangered. That’s why the knee-jerk reaction by the Japanese media and ordinary Japanese people to the bluefin tuna issue is completely wrong. As for whales and dolphins, Westerners who are against their being killed simply because they are whales and dolphins are clearly in the wrong.
  
  But Westerners do not attribute mythical abilities of human intelligence to tuna; the concern is one of sustainability. Also, the dwindling populations of bluefin tuna are due to over-consumption in Japan that began with the fad for toro sushi. 80% of the world bluefin catch is consumed right here in Japan.

Very nicely done video, guys! Your parody t-shirts would be big sellers I think. Best of luck with your future projects, keep after that bum Watson! He pretends that this kind of thing doesn’t bother him, but it really does. He devotes a lot of his commentary on his website about the ‘cyber war’ waged against SSCS, and the “Japanese paid posters” who prowl the internet picking on him. Nothing could be further from the truth. People have started to see Watson for the fool he is and are finally speaking out against his lies and staged media events like his whale wars program on TV.

I’m against whaling. The only people who should be hunting them are the Inuits because they at least do it with spears while floating in rickety kayaks. And they only take one or two whales a year which is enough to feed their people for a long time. All the other nations who hunt whale using modern techniques are cowards.

Also, to clarify, I am VERY MUCH against sea shepherd. It’s wackos like these who make the situation for whale much worse. If your against hunting, boycott or find other non-violent forms of protest. By attacking whaling ships, and the people who work on them, they are only making things worse.
