Performing Chimpanzee Pan-kun will soon reach sexual maturity, so “Shimura Zoo” has been airing little clips of him going on “dates” with Poko, a female chimp at the same zoo who he will eventually “marry.” So far it is has mostly involved dressing Pan-kun up in ridiculous costumes and having him emulate human courtship rituals:
Despite the fact that it may look like Poko is angry at times, their trainer says that they are just playing and that there are signs that their relationship is getting better.
When Pan-kun really does reach sexual maturity, it will be hard for his trainer to control him and he will become large and strong enough to cause harm to humans. He will probably be retired as a performer before something like this happens.
