French chef in a Japanese commercial

Chef Philippe Batton of Le Petit Tonneau is starring in a commercial for Asahi’s newest fruit chu hai drink:

I doubt I’ll try the chu hai, but his restaurant (which I’d never heard of before this commercial) looks pretty nice.

I think it’s funny that just four days ago, after years of searching, I finally got to post the Iron Chef battle that featured chef Baton. It originally aired back in 1996. I wonder how many people who see him in this commercial will remember his appearance on Iron Chef.

I’m French and this guy is quite famous in gastronomy. Funny to see him in a commercial, but I do think Asahi deserves a chef

He is quite famous among travelling chefs.
I have some family members working in this field, that’s why I know him.

He’s been in Japan for more than 20 years now
