Learn to wear a kimono for your foreign boyfriend

A new series of commercials for kimono wearing lessons features a Japanese woman with a foreign boyfriend (Chad Mullane).

In the first commercial, they are admiring a kimono and the boyfriend says he thinks it would be great if she wore it when they meet his parents (is that a proposal?). Unfortunately, she seems to have forgotten how to properly wear a kimono, so she quickly phones the school to get some lessons.

The second commercial has her getting ready to go to her kimono lesson and the boyfriend commenting on how she seems a lot more excited than when she gets ready to go out with him.

I wonder if there will be a future commercial in which she meets the parents?

Oh god here comes the guy who goes by many versions of the name “Proud” and “Asian” come and try to fool us asian women are not attracted to foreigners. I know either he or a guy like that is going to make a comment any second.

michael, you mean western run japanese blogs…if you can read japanese blogs, you will see people are more similar than you think.

I did indeed mean western-run Japanese blogs. Methinks this says something about the types of foreigners who go to Japan and Korea.

Yeah, he was on Matsumoto Hitoshi’s Suberanai Hanashi. He kicked ass there, but naturally, he’s boring in this commercial.

I think they left out the most important instructions:

“How to undress and strip naked
a Japanese woman wearing kimono”

There were a couple of times when I was faced with
such dilema. In the “end” the kimono was nearly
ruined in Monica Lewingsky style. (hint hint)

Four month course for free to wear kimono except some ??(actual expense? I am not sure what jippi means here.
better to ask how much it really costs if you are interested in the course.
I guess you need to buy kimono or you need to rent kimono unless you already have one.
