In my language (indonesian) jalan means = walk, go, travel. perhaps they are using indonesian verb.. =P

On the Japanese wikipedia article, it says that indeed it’s named after the Indonesian word.

It can be in Bahasa Melayu too, not just Bahasa Indonesia.
