Dead whale in Japan

A dead humpback whale washed ashore in Chiba prefecture, so news cameras were there to have a look:

Some people brought their kids, and one guy even carried his dog over to get a closer look at the whale, creating a rather odd background for the shot of the reporter in the first clip:

Note: Humpback whales are not among the species of whale currently hunted by Japanese whalers. Humpbacks, which are not an endangered species, were almost added to the Japanese whaling quota last year, but the plan has been postponed. The news reports say that this whale carcass will be buried – not eaten.

here are a couple of questions:

(1) did the whale wash up on land AFTER it had died in the sea?
or did it die on land?

(2) will Japanese marine biologist conduct “research” on this
dead whale?

(3) what is the current ambient temp at that location?’

(1) Nobody knows that because the whale was already dead when it was found. But the whale was lying upside down, so probably it had been dead before it came there.

(2) The ICR is collecting some data of beached whales, but autopsy on those bodies is not always needed.

(3) It’s about 10 degrees Celsius at maximum, and the minimum temperature is 2 or 3 degrees.

Enough about whales already. Whale topics only attract Australians and other scum (especially New Zealand) who only come to say Japs this and that. It’s a beached whale and it was most likely by accident. What is the big deal?

I think it’s safer to say it’s slightly not endangered, It’s on the list.
This species is considered “least concern” from a conservation standpoint, as of 2008. This is an improvement from vulnerable in the prior assessment. Most monitored stocks of humpback whales have rebounded well since the end of commercial whaling

I’m pretty appalled that it’s just going to be buried. That’s a load of perfectly good whale that’s going to waste. And I’m not even trying to be sarcastic, it’s just that burying it seems incredibly wasteful to me.
