Quentin Tarantino Dons a Tuxedo Kimono Hybrid
At the 2010 Golden Globe award ceremony held recently, Quentin Tarantino showed up decked out in an odd cross of a tuxedo and a kimono.

You can see it in action in this video. No word on who designed the hybrid, or what we should call it. Tukimono? Kimonuxedo?
It’s no secret that Quentin likes Japanese culture for anyone that has seen Kill Bill, and maybe it was his recent Japanese commercial for Softbank that pushed him to the fringe of fashion. Said CM:
It’s not the first time he has sported Asian wear to the Golden Globes show. In 2007, he sported a barong. But as can be expected, most people aren’t going to take to such an unorthodox outfit. Esquire accused Quentin of trying too hard while oddly calling kimonos Japanese tuxedos, saying:
With this ridiculous black-on-black-on-black hybrid, the director said he just combined a Japanese tuxedo and an American tuxedo. But you can’t just combine tuxedos — they don’t lend themselves to “hybrid” anything. Orsen Welles would spin in his grave. And it’s not a good-looking grave.
I’d just rather wear a real kimono if anything.
