After seeing the searches Google suggested for “Why is Japan so”, I decided to check what popular searches Google would suggest for other Japan-related questions. Here are the results, which I suppose could be taken as an indication of how a lot of people in the English-speaking world view Japan:

Japanese people ought to be made aware of the foreign stereotypes about their country and the damned weirdos who come here under the pretenses that the stereotypes are reality. Maybe the ‘cute diplomats” or whatever they are would be discontinued as they easily propagate the majority of these stereotypes.

Any one know about this: “why japanese women do not shave”? Does it refer to down there? And if so, do westerners tend to shave to a greater extent than the Japanese? If so, how come? I’m under the impression that the Japanese to a larger extent care about their looks and thus put more effort into hairstyling, make up and cloths than their western counterparts…

If I am correct, a long time ago, only prostitutes shaved themselves for hygienic purpose…

And if you go to a public bath, every other women will notice and think that you’re just … well no need to be explicit.

Just from personal experience, the women I was with in the states all did some type of grooming down there. Some only trimmed it to keep it neat, others went bare. This included various races, not just Caucasian. By comparison, none of the Japanese women I have been with do this. Granted, this is not exactly a large sample but it lead me to believe your assumption was correct.

I dont really agree with this article. I feel it propagates stereotypes of Japan that aren`t necessarily true. Overall, these are google websites that are owned by digital plantation owners that are pawning themselves as “experts”.

Maybe because this is a blog about Japan and doing a post on that would be outside the scope of it? Who is stopping you from doing just that and sharing the results with the world on your own blog or website? Both can be hosted for free, you know.

sheesh, stop being so butt-hurt. Of course it represents stereotypes of Japan that aren`t necessarily true, but that is not the same as propagating these stereotypes. Your twisted logic would leave us in a world where we cannot talk about the views of nazis, jihadists, the KKK, japanese rightwing nutjobs etc. etc. because that would be propagating stereotypes of XXX that aren`t necessarily true. Please don’t try to nanny me and try to trust that most people have critical reading skills and if they don’t, then address that issue instead of trying to act the besserwisser cencor.
