It seems they have some kind of weight at the back of their bikes. That would make it much more difficult to maintain balance. Plus, if you ever have to ride a bike completely different from the one you are used to, you also would have some problems to maintain a perfect balance.
So whoever thought of this as a part of a show was a genius ^^

The thing on the back is a flotation thing for the bike but ya, it probably does make it more difficult.

The seat is way to low and the gear is way to high, so the bikes are rigged to make it way harder then it should be.

Didn’t they do this before New Years, too…? Or is that the same one as this one?

There were two DOORS shows in 2009. This is from the earlier one.

The camera boats are causing large wakes, in turn making the floating bridge sway hard. It makes the bike steering harder to keep still. That’s why most barely make it to the end and then fall. The back end of the floating bridge starts to snake, in turn pulling the front into the sway.

I kinda love how they apparently dont have any brakes so even the 2 winners do whatever they can to stop.

hmm… on closer inspection I think the ones that get OUT early cant build enough momentum, but the ones that get OUT halfway or so, at some point look too far ahead that they lose their bearing and end up in the river. I mean, 300 metres thats over 3 football fields. At some point I think they re thinking “when is this over?!”
