Drunk driver nearly kills police officers

Four Tokyo Cops try to stop a suspicious driver, not realizing that he was drunk and intending to flee:

Luckily, none of the officers were run over by the car and a fifth officer managed to use a patrol car to block the drunk driver’s vehicle.

So in the end they blur his handcuffs and not his face? Not that I believe his privacy should be protected, on the contrary. It just seems unusual compared to videos I have seen here.

That driver should be glad he wasn’t shot to death. He should be thankful that Japanese police are very reluctant to use deadly force.

I am also amazed that police can control themselves in that situation. I feel like I’d have a hard time not slugging the driver a couple of times (not that I think that is justified, but it just seems like a understandable reaction to the situation). I guess crowds and video cameras help cops keep their cool.

Seriously. If I was in some kind of high-speed chase in pursuit of a drunk driver I would be pretty mad if/when I caught him or he crashed his car…just being so reckless and endangering everyone on the road like that is so stupid. I’d be mad.
