Japanese girls want to marry Chinese?

A highly amusing article from the news organ of the Communist Party of China:
Nowadays, there is a popular saying among Japanese girls that goes “What we want is Chinese food and men, not French lovers or American houses.” This means Japanese girls have lost their interest in French and American men.
In Japan, men from China are becoming more popular with Japanese girls. More than 1,500 Japanese girls married with Chinese men last year, an increase of 30 percent, which is the highest in history.
A representative from Japan’s China information research institute told the reporter that the quick development of China’s economy and Chinese people getting richer are the most important reasons for Japanese girls changing their appetites. Also because Japan has more women than men and Japanese men compared to Chinese men are generally less capable when it comes to being both a considerate family man and a breadwinner.
Today’s Japanese men feel much more inferior compared with men from China because they found what they are lacking is not little.
A quick Google search found some international marriage stats from 2007, which included about 1,487 American husbands and 1,016 Chinese husbands (France appears to have been placed within the “other nationality” category). The population of Chinese living in Japan jumped from 606,000 in 2007 to 656,000 in 2008. During the same period, the population of Americans living in Japan hovered around 52,000.

Is Chinese journalism on Japan catching up with the level of English journalism on Japan or is English journalism backsliding into the level of Chinese journalism?

What do you mean with “English journalism”? Does it mean “british journalism” or perhaps “all journalism in english language”? Either way, it sounds like a pretty broad generalization for one who claims to fight generalizations.

A good point. That is why I just asked and didn’t make the sweeping generalization.
Do you understand the difference between making a broad generalization and asking if it is true, leitmotiv?

Yes I do. But your generalization above is clear and inescapable. That you placed your clear generalization within a rhetorical question does not change the fact that it is a generalization. Hopefully you will learn the difference. Let me know if I can help you further.

“you placed your clear generalization within a rhetorical question “・・・・Let me know if I can help you further.
Did you take it as a rhetorical question?
You can certainly help me further. What made you assume that I was making a rhetorical question?
Or are you offering to help me on how to use chopsticks, which American Anime I should watch or what ?

I wonder what the People’s Daily makes of the fact that around 12,000 Chinese women have married Japanese men every year for the past several years? Or if they would even mention the fact that 8 times as many Chinese women marry Japanese men as Japanese women marry Chinese men?
So, um, who should be feeling “inferior” again?

I just remembered an incident from Australia about 15 years ago or so – a Chinese woman living there wrote a book that said, among other things, Chinese men were terrible in bed and Australian men in particular and Western men in general were great.
Chinese in Australia actually had mass demonstrations condemning her as a “traitor of the Han race”, demanding she be arrested for libel etc. It was really quite amusing how massively insecure a lot of Chinese felt about that book.
Something about Chinese men being more “capable” reminded me of that incident.

I want to also let you know that Chinese men from mainland China lack romantic finess. They don’t even know how to dress properly and even comb their hair often. They must learn to not just stick their toungues into women’s mouths and ram it in and grab too quickly geeky style showing instant neediness in a romantic setting. I am serious, Chinese men from mainland China is like dating a geeky klutz. They have terrible bedroom performance also. Any man from any country would be better than men from mainland China. I therefore perfer a caucasaian for a partner due to their ability to treat a partner well.

What I want to know is, what KIND of Japanese girl/woman are marrying what kind of these Chinese men. Are they predominantly modern-city-gal types that are marrying newly-extremely rich, Westernized-Chinese men who are jet-setters or something, or are they country-gal Ohakyushou-san farmer types? THAT is the question.
They can’t just very well GENERALIZE the entire type of Japanese girl now, saying that a general Chinaman is attractive, now, can they? LOL

Sorry I mean to type OHYAKUSHOU, as in, a farmer. Sorry for the spelling mistake LOL

I find this quite amusing. There was another article a while back indicating that Japanese men do not wish to be masculine. This could also be a possible cause for Japanese women to marry Chinese men. Otherwise they would all be lesbians.
This is certainly quite interesting. But more details and breakdowns would be helpful in fully understanding the situations.

Thanks for giving those additional numbers. 2.8% of American men (in Japan) versus 0.2% of Chinese men (in Japan) getting married to Japanese women. Speaks for itself, doesn’t it.

I think that has more to do with the big population there. Americans have been hovering 52,000 and you have to split that to the number of men, then you have a higher per population percentage. Meaning there’s less american men to go around. While the marriage statistics for them have not gone down. I don’t think french men were even listed out of all the years they counted them. Only American and UK men.

The question needs to be asked, Why must “inferior and superior” be brought into marriage. Isn’t marriage about compatibility and love? Whoever wrote this article is a total dumbass. But then again, it’s the people’s daily, of course it reeks.

Yeah! It is a typical misogynist and/or sexist mindset which regards females just as a kind of a war trophy. It is the exact reason for why marriage and superiority are associated each other. The number of women acquired is a good measure of their superiority! Heehaw!

It plays into an unpleasant nationalistic, racist and sexist way of thinking.

I saw more detailed statistics.
Most Japanese women who get marry with Chinese men is their second or third marriage and in their thirties or forties.
Chinese women who got marry with Japanese men would get Japanese Nationality after three or five years, so that they become Japanese themselves
Then they get divorce from their Japanese husbands.
Finally, they get marry with Chinese men as Japanese women.

What I do find funny is China’s love hate relationship over Japan. Mainland Chinese are usually anti-japan to the point of racism. Speaking about marrying someone the Japan, would be a potential homicide. The other question is are they from mainland Chinese or from Taiwan or even Foreign Born Chinese. All these do make a difference.
