Yes, you read that headline correctly. Denny’s restaurants in Japan are now serving foie gras:

Tournedos de Rossini is one of the best beef dishes I’ve ever had–anywhere. But I didn’t eat it at Denny’s….

How can it be so cheap? You can’t get that much foie gras for so little money. And why Denny’s of all places?

Yeah, they’ve had foie gras for a while–they did when we were on our honeymoon in 2004. It came with “truffe and caviar” for the princely sum of ¥1680–I guess prices have dropped in the bad economy.

For the record, anyway, Denny’s Japan is tastier than Denny’s US, much as Mister Donut and 7-11 are rather different there. I could eat the food at Denny’s in Japan, just like the way the food at Starbucks in Taiwan is somehow fresh and tasty rather than simultaneously greasy and stale like much of the food at US Starbucks. :p

As an added note – the video also says truffle is used in the sauce. Can someone please eat this and report!? Japanese Denny’s is pretty yummy by the way. Haven’t had American Denny’s though…
