Trucks collide near tunnel entrance
A pretty crazy photo from a traffic accident that took place in Yamaguchi prefecture:

The traffic accident experts at 2-channel have been speculating about how the trucks ended up like that. Here are three possible explanations:

first explanation is wrong. note says that the truck in front brakes immediately before the accident, but that would make its weight shift forward and the front of the truck dive, not the back.

Is there a cross road above the tunnel? I think it’s more likely the truck fell down rather than flew up in the air Die Hard style.

Was Godzilla spotted shortly before the “accident”.

No, it’s just a failed attempt to transform into a giant robot. Learn about Japan correctly and update your knowledge. Godzilla is decades old.

From most plausible to least.
The truck hanging from the tunnel probably didn’t “jump” the other. Just look at the damage to the rear one’s cabin, and the relative lack of damage to the trailer.

Look to the left of the picture. There is damage to a railing and scrape marks on the outer edge of the tunnel. The truck was rear ended further back and skidded sideways for a bit. It then rode the edge up to where it is now. The tunnel edge is slanted allowing for this.

that seeems right! I bet there was nothing heavy in first truck.

That is what I thought, even before seeing speculations below the image.

Looks like the truck in front has a heavy load mainly on the rear end (like my ex-girlfriend, ba-dum) and was unstable (like another ex-girlfriend, ba-dum-dum). Tip your waitresses.
Anyway, the rear wheels seem to be relatively far to the front compared to many trucks and the main mass of the load seems to be located behind the rear wheels (though maybe it shifted post-crash). Basically the truck was a giant seesaw and the rear wheels as the pivot, instead of a stable base, just waiting for a fat kid to jump on one side (the blue truck)
Ironically, if the load had been slightly more forward and slightly more stable, the cab of the truck might have only made it exactly up to the roof of the tunnel, bisecting the cab and the driver.

The truck was probably doing a multi-drop and had already unloaded the goods from the front end. The goods at the rear end probably only had to be delivered to a site a short distance away and hence the block head driver thought it was ok to continue in an unbalanced condition.
Either that or a wheely gone wrong.

Don’t worry. Only slight injury of two drivers, the traffic accident experts at 2-channel said.

had to be Godzilla!

Looks to me like the blue truck rear ended the yellow one, caused it to jacknife, with the cab twisted around to the right. Still moving forward the yellow cab was caught on and forced up the sloping side of the tunnel entrance.

Looking at the damage at the left side of the tunnel, the truck went up using this “ramp” (the entrance of the tunnel is not vertical but climbing up)

Looks like Japan needs to spend more money on science education, preferably in English. You can see the 2chan depictions are merely entertaining. The 1st one does show the artist at least gets the concept of momentum. The 2nd one shows that guy has a lot of time on his hands. And the third one obviously is just trying to be funny.
Why do i say “in English”? Japanese is better at describing deeper levels of emotion and experiences rather than abstracts.
Ever wonder why Japanese say “yes yes yes” in meetings, pretending they understand, when someone is describing a concept in depth. And then when the speaker is done, just continue to do what they are intending from the beginning. It’s a problem inherit to the language.

I thought it was more because the speakers opinion is long winded and the concept can easily be explained in 2 sentences. I think english listeners have the same problem with some english speakers… OR he just doesn`t give a shiet.
Please see Michael Moores explanation to the Japanese guy on why he shouldnt wear a mask.

Your knowledge on Japanology seems to be incomplete or wrong.
Japanese is better at describing deeper levels of emotion…
Completely wrong. Japanese never show their emotion.
Ever wonder why Japanese say “yes yes yes”…
We Japanese are programmed to do so obviously…
It’s a problem inherit to the language.
Yes, we need an object-oriented language like JAVA.
