Johnny Depp at Narita Airport

December 9th, 2009 by James

Johnny Depp at Narita

A crowd of screaming Japanese fans greets Johnny Depp as he arrives at Narita Airport:

Depp is in Tokyo to promote Public Enemies, which will hit theaters in Japan on December 12th.*

*The delayed release is a grand example of how many popular foreign films have ridiculously late release dates in Japan. According to the timeline at IMBD, Public Enemies was released in over 50 countries between June and August of this year. The film has already been released on DVD in several countries.

Errrrr………. you should’ve seen how late it used to be back in the day! During the 80’s, you probably didn’t see the hit American movie in Europe for at least 6 to 8 months, if not a whole year later.

Things have gotten a lot better.

wow, that is nutty, how long did those fans have to camp out there before he appeared?? how do they learn of when he is arriving. Personally I would like to know when celebrities are arriving so I can avoid that area. . .that is just plain scary

Not only in Japan though, in Brazil I watched this movies about 4 months ago, now I am in Italy studying and just a few weeks ago is that they released it here… But it sucks when that happens.

The movie Laputa, which has been released in 1986 in Japan, has been released in Germany in 2006. Probably because Studio Ghibli became popular in Germany due to movies like spirited Away. Now THAT is a late release. ;)

Personally I’d rather watch footage of all those crazy fans, would have been much more fun. ^^
