There is no single “second law of nature”.

They should have all gone out of business, as it is not the business of the government to pump money to business that made bad decisions and the business that were smart would pick all those business up. That’s not capitalism, that’s communism.

Having said that, I agree that it is wrong to discriminate agaist women, soley based on their sex. Nomura could have done more to prevent those unfortunate incidents. Based on the article, it only seems that she was only acting as a victim and not trying to confront the situation maturely. Now, you may protest that the two cases are so very different and that race and sex can’t be compared in such a way, but you are wrong.
