The new face of Tatsuya Ichihashi
Japanese police have finally released a photo of Tatsuya Ichihasi’s post-cosmetic surgery face:
Several facial features have apparently changed — he now has double-fold eyelids, a higher nose and thin lips. Two moles that had been on his left cheek have disappeared as well, according to police.
Ichihashi, 30, is wanted in connection with the murder of Lindsay Ann Hawker, 22, an English teacher.
In another development Thursday, investigative sources said Ichihashi had attempted to undergo cosmetic surgery in Fukuoka Prefecture in mid-October before his Oct. 24 face-lift in Nagoya.
The man who appeared at the clinic in Fukuoka Prefecture used the same alias as that used at the Nagoya facility, the sources said, without revealing the alias.
Why the police would release the photo but not the alias is puzzling, as the name he has been using would probably be very useful to the public.
Prior to the release of the photo, an expert consulted by Fuji TV had advised people to pay attention to Ichihashi’s ears, since few people have plastic surgery to alter their ear shape:

Would someone please catch this scumbag already? Hopefully he’ll be easier to spot now that he looks like he’s had plastic surgery.

So how did they manage to get a mugshot of his new look? If I got a new look to avoid getting life imprisonment (or the Japanese equivalent), I wouldn’t go staring straight into any cameras.
You have a point…but i think its jsut a before and after shot, from the plastic surgery. but why plastic surgery? theres how many ppl in japan? i think you could get lost if you wanted.
He used someone else’s real name and real address in Osaka who has nothing to do with this case.

Also if they released the alias he could be watching the news and change it again. If they didn’t he could use it at some other establishment. The computer tracking his name would probably locate him when he comes back on the grid. Using the name for a hotel room rent an apartment or anything for that motter.
…or that they would just catch the man whose alias was stolen. chances are he has a new alias now
So I was RIGHT to assume the plastic surgeons took before/after photos (at least the after). [see previous rant under previous story]
I was just silly to assume that the non-release of such a photo initially was because there wasn’t one, because the surgeon was bribed not to take any, and should lose his/her license (though licenses should STILL be revoked for giving plastic surgery to one of Japan’s most-wanted criminals), rather than non-release it being the fault of the police.
I’ll never assume anyone EXCEPT the Japanese police to be at fault for anything ever again concerning this case.
Lesson learned.
With such a recent photo AND location, you’d think a timely release (like ASAFP) would be important. Rather than giving him an extra day or two to run while maybe double-checking that it really, really, really, really is him.
How long before they get around to updating the wanted posters, another week?
So he probably abandonned Tokyo after the murder. Probably isn’t in Nagoya anymore, and used a fake Osaka address. Osaka peeps keep an eye out, at least until he moves to Hiroshima, in the anonymity of large cities.
I do not think it is the lesson wise people should learn.
If the man is not he, what will happen? One false alert will just ruin everything. People will lose confidence in information provided by the police and will stop co-operating. Do you trust in a person who keeps telling unsubstantiated stories?

I’m guess the police took and old photo and with image experts photoshopped up the after surgery photo.
I suspect he’ll be caught (dead or alive) by the end of this calendar year, if not anytime very soon.

What I don’t get is;

- Why didn’t these plastic surgeons recognize this guy… His photo is all over the place…

It seems you are the one who keeps telling unsubstantiated stories.
Although, his parents *are* a probable source of income for him … from what’s known or released to the public.
It has been reported (with typical tabloid flair) that he has been sighted in cross-dressing and prostituting himself out to homosexual men, but I doubt one could earn that much hard cash that way.
But there’s no guarantee that the police aren’t withholding information they know so that the Ichihashi wouldn’t become wary and avoid an unpublicized known contact.
I believe the police of this country are known to use misleading or incomplete releases information to the media to try to manipulate a wanted suspect.
I imply that the murderer is getting money from his parents.
Others imply the murderer’s getting money by sucking dicks in Shinkuku.

His parents keeping Tatsuya Ichihashi supplied with money is strongly suspected by internet commenters but there has been no reports that that is true.
Him engaging in homosexual coitus has been reported on TV with men going on camera albeit with blurred faces to say “I had sex him” (as well as “I stole his briefs”).

Apparently he had a moustache and a beard when that photo was taken but the photoshoped so the public does not have the illusion to look for someone with only a beard etc…the should show both …
people don’t recognise criminals at the best of times. I mean, seeing that they had to hold up the release of the after shot to photoshop a beard out says something. The smallest differences throws people off – so its not suprising to me that he could successfully go in for surgery several times. It’s true that a plastic surgeon is probably better placed to imagine what a person would have looked like prior to surgery, but I think its within the realm of possibility. I doubt it would be the first thing that crosses their mind in the morning – hey better be on the look out for criminals that have undergone multiple cosmetic surgeries and now look nothing like their mugshots. I mean. good lord look at that face – do you think if you saw him walking down the street prior to the release of the photo that you would have recognised him?
but yeah, too bad for him someone caught on
he now looks way more distinctive (read hideously ugly) and his face is fresh in everyones mind. Only a matter of time.
