Yea, every girl lists that. It’s called trying to draw in more or of an audience (both male and female). She wants to get girls who are interested in make up to view her links, and girls who hate make up to look at her too (because she “loves” games and “can relate”). She also wants to call out to guys because she “is a hard core gamer”.

I understand what you’re saying and I have nothing against her posting makeup tips. If she’d try to do this professionally, I’d say go for it.

But still, in the end of the clip where she does the playback, it looks like she’s a robotic doll, so she probably shouldn’t do any acting, at least not before paying some visits to an acting school.

The comment against Michelle by the “anon” is hilariously bitter. Banking off others’ ideas? Give me a break! She’s never claimed these ideas to be original and has said she is simply sharing tips. 99 Percent of the makeup ideas on youtube (And in the world) are recycled tips. Your statement about the “kitty litter facial” clearly shows your malice towards her, and it’s pretty pathetic

overrated? not original? nothing is original. everything is borrowed and she never claims it’s original ideas. Michelle was an underdog beginning of 2009, panacea81 was the top guru. she surpassed all the gurus, and there is a reason for it. It’s skill and talent. She is now represented by Jed Root. If you don’t know who he is, he has a office here in Japan, NYC, London, LA and Milan. He represents the finest makeup artists of our time. Finest, I mean the late Kevyn Aucoin (he started his career), Laura Mercier, even Ayako from Nars. Why didn’t Jed pick Panacea, or the other gurus? Because he saw something in Michelle. I’d say, this is the beginning of her career, you say it might not work forever. Nothing every does, but she has a long career ahead of her and youtube is just the beginning.

The purpose of these videos is to share makeup(also skincare) ideas/tricks and stuff like that. I’m a woman who looves to try different looks and these makeup-gurus like Michelle here give a lot of inspiration and good advice on makeup. As I understand you are a man and I guess you wouldn’t understand how fun playing with makeup can be for women. This here is costume makeup, but she has a lot of pretty daytime look videos and scin care tutorials. Also the IQQU creme she used in the start of the video is from her own skincare line. This is not done just to get compliments.

Michelle Phan is overrated (imo), its nice that she knows how to apply makeup but I have seen other youtube users who clearly surpass her in terms of original ideas and level of skill and they never make it to the front page. Michelle googles shit from other beauty bloggers/ websites on (tomato scrubs, rice water facials, kitty litter face masks etc) and banks off of them. Basically none of her videos are ‘original’ content. I would say she is pretty talented for her appearance but that is about it. Those are my observations as a YT viewer and I am not the only one who has pointed it out. Although I will say, congrats to her for being able to sell that completely fabricated image of herself to everyone… it won’t work forever.

One of the biggest cliches in the world of youtube and world wide videos: filming yourself putting on makeup.

Granted a lot of these people are cuties, but does it really serve any other purpose than attention seeking and an ego boost to read of how ‘hot’ and sexy people think you are?
