Life After the BOE (webcomic)

Life After the BOE is a humorous webcomic about the experiences almost all ALTs endure when they come to Japan. Chagrin pays the bills, and anybody that has ever worked in a Japanese school will be able to identify with the comic, but even the layman will find these pretty funny.

This episode reminded me of this post.

Don’t worry. Many of us who have lived in Japan know how you really feel. Maybe you think you are fooling someone but for a lot of us it is obvious what you really think. Actually I feel sorry for you, that many of you have such miserable lives. I have been reading the writings of your youth for the past 15 years and see so many young people that have no relationships with their fathers, no dreams, no ambition, 20 year olds who dream about going to Disneyland to meet Mickey and young women whose only option to making decent money is to sell themselves in hostess bars. We know what you think…we just don’t care.

theres no way a japanese person wrote this! that would be really funny if someone studied a language for years, checked out a website in that language, looked at a totally innocuous cartoon about daily life in their home country and then left an eff you comment. this is just Kazuhide.

Sheesh, I was working on a webcomic about being an expat as well. I’ll have to set it in Korea I guess. More painful comedy there regardless…

But that flash interface has got to go! Get a CC license on them comics lad! That’s how XKCD became the biggest thing out there.

Flash interface? I don’t see a flash interface. Do you mean that javascript lightbox gallery? I find that it serves it’s purpose, I’ve seen much worse gallery interfaces and also much worse lightbox implementations.
If you don’t want it, just turn Javascript off for that website! There are browser addons to acomplish that easily, for instance NoScript for Firefox.

What I think is missing is a RSS feed!
