Love Hachiko – a special rhinestone version of Shibuya’s famous landmark statue

October 19th, 2009 by James

The same episode of “Champions” that turned a Mt. Fuji bath house painting into a shiny rhinestone “Deco Fuji” also made a rhinestone version of Shibuya’s famous Hachiko statue:

“Love Hachiko” will be put on display inside a new building in front of Koza-Shibuya station on the Odakyu line. The building is not quite complete, so the statue has been put on temporary display inside the nearby Yamato city hall building.

Don’t really like the look of it in general, but I am very impressed at the details and effort they’ve put into making it tho!

Not too bad, but I prefer the originally one! sorry!

I admit, I actually liked the Mount Fuji bath house painting, but this is just horrible.

even though it is a bit too much, I gotta admit they got some skill. I would love to see what they could do with a cake.

Shit like this is what is wrong with Japan today.
Turning a cultural icon with a relatively meaningful history into an out of context, shiny, piece of kawaaiii-mono is insulting to the original profundity of Hachiko.

The final product’s a bit of a travesty, but you have to admire all the meticulous details on the tiny sweets and strawberries and such.

мда.. такое только они могут придумать – побольше всего, да поярче и поблестяще… Безвкусица одним словом.. Бред полнейший. Кому, скажите мне пожалуйста, “ЭТО” надо..
