I meant who as in nationality, so Chinese is a perfect reply here. I still can’t see why question: “Why does she have such dark skin? Is she from Romania?” is treated as a rude one? I agree, question “Why does he look like that? his face is weird, does he have a Down syndrome or something?” is rude and arrogant, but I do not think the OP meant it in such way. Do you REALLY think poster snoop wanted to sound rude? In my opinion he just wanted to clarify if those were Chinese people or not (I too assume someones nationality by looking at their faces/eyes/other features, and it happens I’m wrong sometimes). As you can see in his second comment, he/she isn’t a troll but a normal person that maybe formed his question a bit inappropriate. It could have been formed better (as you proposed “Who are those two celebrities that have “tighter” eyes than usual?”) but it still doesn’t make it racist. Just awkward.

I do not need to read Dave’s comment again. I understood it perfectly. I just don’t think assuming that someone with “tight” eyes is Chinese is racists. Or rude. It may be untrue, I agree, people doesn’t always look the same, but assumption like that was always part of our life. Think about that for a while. Do you not assume that someone has a certain nationality by looking at their features?

Many people in Sweden and especially Finland have light skin but also tight eyes just like Asians. I heard this was not so rare to Scandinavia but rare to any other part of Europe.

You should read more carefully. There is a huge difference between “Why…..than usual,” and “Who….is he.”

Asking “why” someone has certain facial features is often rude, immature, and something a 5 year old might ask.

Asking “who” he is with certain features is a totally legitimate question.

get a grip, that was not racist, oriental eyes are tighter or slanted, just like my hair is blond and my eyes are round, or I am not olny white but really white, I have white people say to me all the time man you white, I dont think they are racist any more then when a black guy says to another man your really dark, this whole racisim thing has gotten way out of hand, we are all different based on our race, I am white, my best friend is black, my girlfriend is oriental and my kids are half, so what, unless some one say something bad about a race because of there race, then that is racism other wise it is certian observations.

I think it’s harsh but still funny, and since they show these in Japan, it seems to be appropriate aswell. You really couldn’t do this in any other country, which is sad, in a certain way. Let me just ask you, sir, what exactly makes his comment racist? I haven’t even watched the clip and I don’t care how tight their eyes are, my Japanese idols have very different kind of eyes and that doesn’t bother me at all. So yeah, you’re right, everyone has different eyes, but how does that make his question racist?
If I watch a Hollywood movie with thousands of white/black actors and one Asian one and I ask “Who’s that guy with “tighter” eyes? Is he Chinese, or Japanese/Vietanmese/Korean/make your pick?” does that make me a rascist? Maybe I was just curious what his nationality was? What if I ask a similar question about European actors: “Who is that guy with long hair and darker skin? Is he Italian?” Is it still wrong? I don’t think Italians would be angry with me for asking such question.
I agree, if said question is using stereotypes that harm people (“Who’s that guy who smells so badly? Is he…?” or “Who’s that guy with ugly eyebrows? Is he…?”) that’s wrong. But Snoopy never said anything about “tighter” eyes being gross, or repulsive. Maybe he actually prefers “tighter” eyes, and he meant to praise those celebrities not harm them?

So, no, mr Snoopy I don’t think your comment was extremely racist. It wasn’t. At all. As for you, Dave, there are hundreds of real racists out there, don’t waste your time hunting the imaginary ones.

I caught the second half of this show and they had some Z-list comedian doing a gourmet report; the first shop asked them to not broadcast as he had hoped for an A-list star, doing the second shop the bus got burgled and his wallet stolen, and just before the third his manager told him his management company would be letting him go at the end of the month…

I thought that was extremely harsh, but getting your pals murdered is a completely different kettle of fish.
