Update: http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/tokyo-shift/post.htm?id=63014683
This was on the news feed at the top page of JP today, but I think it needs a wider audience.
---------------
Footage of China's Hu with Toshiba ad is banned
Nov 4, 2009 22:38
Many of you will remember the controversy caused back in October after Chinese netizens complained that their National Day parade was tainted by an ad for a Japanese company. Hu Jintao's ceremonial car-ride happened to pass in front of a huge Toshiba billboard, which apparently no one had the foresight to cover up.
Well it seems that now China is making every effort to cover up this embarrassment. The latest regulations from the Beijing Ministry of Media and Communications has forbidden televising or publishing this video clip online.

I know why "ハー" is shown on the flag: it's the military flag. Chines navy, airforce and army all bear this sign. It means "8.1", the founding date of the People's Liberation Army, ie. August 1, 1927.

ha, i see what you're saying. but "HA" in Japanese looks like the character for 8 in Chinese (BA). So the flag is saying "BA YI" or 8-1 Chinese national day.

I guessed it must have been 8 and 1, but I was confused as to why there wasn't the character for 10 in between. I guess what I'm saying is I didn't get the relevance of 8 and 1. Thanks for filling me in though!

The characters on the flag, 八.一, is for August 1st which is the date of establishment of People's Liberation Army.

Should I say Congratulations to Toshiba (for a free advertisement)? LOL

That's not the katakana haa (kinda strange for Japanese to be on a PRC flag), but rather the Chinese characters for "eight" and "one"- August 1st being the date that the People's Liberation Army was established in 1927.

Just scrolled through the video and noticed a huge katakana 'haa' (ハー) on the Chinese flag at 1:26.

Anyone any idea what this is?
At first I thought the Chinese characters for 60 (六十) had been messed up, but that doesn't seem right.

Anyone know Chinese?

In a groundbreaking analysis of contemporary China, Japan Probe has observed contradictions and anachronisms in Chinese society! The previous paradigm, which held that Chinese political, social, and economic theories and practices were completely consistent and congruous, is now considered obsolete. What next from the collective brain-trust of JP? ; )

Ya Japanese companies have been dealing with China for decades (sure there are Japanese brands and companies everywhere in the world). Not really sure what the thing is here, presumably the person or people that pointed it out thinks that no Japanese company or people were ever in Japan, lol.

1. China is the factory of the world, mass-producing virtually everything from action figures to refrigerators in uniform quality.
2. China is already too good at making people for its own good.

Toshiba sold mass-produced humanoid soldiers cheap. That's the reason why Toshiba makes an appearance in Chinese military parade. Honda is a hundred year behind.

So...its strange that on the anniversairy day to have a japanese company name in the background?

But had they removed all the japanese company logos before that day, I think a different kind of video would be posted here with hated comments to chinese people...

The mildly amusing thing here is that a Japanese company name is displayed prominently in the celebrations of a party that rose to power fighting the Japanese.
