45,000 Bae Yong Joon fans pack Tokyo dome

The “Zoom-In Super” morning show reports on an event promoting the release of an anime version of Winter Sonata, the popular Korean drama that starred Bae Yong Joon (“Yon-sama”):

Some 45,000 fans showed up to see Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji-woo, who provided voice acting for the anime versions of their live-action drama characters. Tickets to the event cost 8,925 yen each. About 5,000 fans who weren’t able to make it to Tokyo paid an outrageous 4,4000 yen each to watch a live broadcast of the event at movie theaters. As you can see from the video, most of the fans were older women.

The two stars talked about how fans should buy the new anime. They also took to the air above screaming fans and had a balloon “kiss.”

I saw big posters of Yon-sama in Korea, where he was advertising beauty products. I didn’t know him then, and had to ask my friend whether it was a man or a woman. ^^;;

I think this post is a good reminder that the more racist japanese are mostly men. in fact, doesn’t it seem like men in general are more racist? My asian friends who just started studying medicine in Poland have already been racially harassed three times, every time by guys.
