New Yorkers talk about Hatoyama & America

Another edition of FTV’s segment in which they ask people on the street in Manhattan to comment on Japan-related news:

This time they were asked for their thoughts on how Japan’s relationship with America would change under the leadership of Yukio Hatoyama, who was visiting the United States this week. As usual, they tried really hard to sound like they knew something about the issue.

Why does Japan care so much about what Americans think of them? Most Americans probably can’t locate Japan on a map of Japan.

Dude, Japan’s not a country, its a battleship from outer space called Yamato..so of course you can’t locate it on a map. duh.

Zactly. I’m a Yank and we only just about covered American politics in school – learning about the rest of the world would have cut into valuable lunchtime! Maybe this report was just for a laugh for Japanese viewers Made me cringe as well tho.
