I can't really reply to every inquiry that you have about these incidents- I know that it's difficult to just accept anonymous unprovable stories on the internet, which is why I wrote in my first post that you can make up your own mind.

Having said that, yes, I nailed them because they kept coming past my house and waking my family up at all hours.

A friend of mine did indeed knock over one of them at a traffic light. There were 2 (both foreigners) in the car, it was at night. I have no idea if the cops turned up, they told me it was over very quickly and they left quickly. It wasn't planned as far as I know, a spur of the moment thing I guess.

The guy whose skull was fractured is a long story. He used to buy cars at auction and send them OS. He was a pretty straight up guy. I bought a couple of cars from him, as did some of my friends, so we had contact with him only very intermittently. I guess it's fair to say he was more of an acquaintance than close friend. I lost contact with him not so long after the incident I described because he got out of that business. It was a kind of difficult situation, he'd been hurt badly and was very angry. When he told me the story, my friend and I also urged him to get legal help. He said he'd just run into dead ends everywhere he turned. I don't know if he called lawyers, but I definitely remember him telling me he went to the cop shop after he got the tape and they refused to look at it. The parking attendant told him that the cops had never asked for the tape. At that stage he wanted to get a paintball gun, freeze the paintballs and go after the bosozoku himself (I have no idea whether that would work or not)- I got the feeling he would have liked some help. Obviously, I advised him against it and I never heard of any bosozoku paintball massacre, so I guess he didn't go through with it. I can only tell you the story as it was related it to me, same with the car incident.

I agree it's best not to provoke those guys, I certainly wouldn't do it again- as I said I was at the end of my tether. I was worried for a while that they'd come back to my house with their mates, but thankfully it never happened.

Anyway, these things happened quite a while ago, I don't know whether they would pan out the way they did if they happened now. I don't regret doing it, but I think I got lucky with the cops.

So

I beat the shit out of 2 of them some years ago when they kept coming past my house and waking my baby up

They gave up pretty fast after they’d been knocked down

So　did you knock them down because they kept coming past your house?

And a friend of yours got out of his car, kicked over the bike and left the guy there?

And still another guy　you know gave them the finger and

got his skull fractured by a large group of them

And

He went back to the carpark when he had recovered somewhat, asked the attendant for the security tapes (which the attendant had kept) and took them to the cops

But the cops did nothing about it?
Not that I don't believe your story, but there must be more details behind the story. And if it is true that the cop didn't do anything despite the evidence, tell him to consult a lawyer.

And I suggest not to provoke these crazy bosozoku.
And don't try to settle things by violence.
If you initiated the violence, it is likely you would be blamed too.
Call the police.

The boys bailed pretty fast after the biffs- they were pretty scared I think at the end, not just of me, probably more about the hassles they would inevitably have with the cops. There were 2 on 1 bike, so they lifted it up and got out ASAP. They gave up pretty fast after they'd been knocked down, possibly quite shocked at the turn of events. I don't want to make it sound like I'm a tough guy or something because I'm not- I was just really really pissed off and that was just stronger than their will to be dicks.

I explained the situation to the cops, and by that time my kid was crying and my wife was up and it was 2am or something, so they could see I wasn't just out to beat people up. I also didn't leave too many huge obvious marks on the boys, although one had a split nose from my wedding ring (southpaw)- I used a rolled and halved wet towel to knock the rider off, and the the guy on the back fell over with him and the bike. I guess the cops took a little pity on me. They were friendly and said thanks in kind of a nudge wink way. My Japanese wasn't that crash hot, so the conversation was pretty stilted. My wife told me later that they'd said to her that they felt like doing the same thing but I had to gaman and call them next time.

”He got out of his car, kicked over the bike and left the guy there.”

I would so love to do that. Luckily there are not many where I live.

"just chatted to me about it and said thanks."

More details, please.

I beat the shit out of 2 of them some years ago when they kept coming past my house and waking my baby up. I was working 2 jobs at the time and only able to get 4 hours sleep a night. Strangely enough, the Jcops who came around when the neighbours called just chatted to me about it and said thanks. A friend of mine was at a red light when one stopped next to him and revved his engine the way they do. He got out of his car, kicked over the bike and left the guy there. If you plan on doing anything like this, pick the place carefully, another guy I know got his skull fractured by a large group of them after he gave them the finger (while on a bicycle, duh!). They chased him and beat him up in a carpark in Nagoya. He went to the cops, who said there was no evidence. He went back to the carpark when he had recovered somewhat, asked the attendant for the security tapes (which the attendant had kept) and took them to the cops, who unsurprisingly did nothing about it. I've lived here for 12 years, you can choose not to believe these stories if you wish, but they are true.

I'm not a lawyer, but that sounds suspiciously like a crime to me ...
There was a case like that a little while back, and I believe the culprits were being sought on charges of attempted murder?

oh puleeeeze. i have seen loads of tv shows and IN PERSON where these idiots (bosozoku) just ride around in circles even in front of the POLICE BOX and get little or no attention from the police. i wonder (and love the "presumably" in the article) if the police ever follow up. the idiots on bikes still menace my neighborhood every weekend. it has been years with no end in sight.
