can sorta understand what WorldForChange is getting at. The US is always mocked in Japan in TV Shows, Media and the truth is always altered to fit what the public wants to hear. This clip only just reinforces the stereotype and isn’t helping the situation any. If there is to be any real equal partnership among both countries. They both need to stop feeding lies about one another and treating each with with respect. Although that is difficult when dealing with a country that looks down on everyone else just because they are different. Hence the problems living in a xenophobic society. This creates major problems as you can expect to have good relations with anyone when one side refuses to meet the other half way. How do you think wars start. They start from fear, mistrust, hatred, stereotypes and general misunderstanding of one another. This is what concerns the US as they are getting mixed signals as to what Japan’s true intentions are.

Now with the new government in place that is even more of a question mark. If Japan is going to be a part of the world community. Their isolationist attitudes need to change. I believe the US wants to see Japan as independent and prosperous but they need to know they can be trusted as well. I am not sure where Japan’s whole xenophobic mind set started but it needs to change. Japan has so much to offer and it is a real shame they don’t open up a little. Although respect goes both ways and doesn’t just apply to Japan. I think this is what WorldForChange was trying to get at.
