Aflac duck gets some feline backup

Aflac Japan has summoned a cat to up the cute factor in its commercials (Aoi Miyazaki and the duck weren’t enough?):
They’re also offering mini maneki neko costume-wearing ducks to new customers.

So what’s the deal with that? Why a white cat? Why a goofy looking white cat that can’t dance? What are they trying to say? And why the goofy voice?
Wait. Is that cat speaking in Katakana?

Your post has given me paws for thought. By presenting a non-dancing white cat (an obvious reference to the nerdy English teachers that hang out in Roppongi clubs) that cannot even pronounce simple Japanese words like AFLAC, this is obviously yet another catastrophic attack on the gaijin community, an incident that I am feline will whip up another purrfect storm with which to beat AFLAC to within a whisker of their life.
I hope Mister Debito is dealing with this case!
