Japanese news show uses toys to reenact crime

A Fuji TV morning news show reenacts a crime that took place in Niigata Prefecture:
A criminal fleeing from police tried to make a getaway in a construction tractor. Cop cars chased him as he sped down a road at 15 km/h (9.3 mph), occasionally backing up when he put the tractor in reverse to scare them away. Cops cornered him in a field about 1 kilometer from the starting point of the chase, where he proceeded to swing around the shovel of the vehicle, knocking over a tree and digging up some dirt. His menacing actions kept police at bay for about 40 minutes. The stand-off ended when one officer charged the vehicle and smashed its windows with a club.

It’s really useful that they put “イメージ映像” (image picture) on the broadcast as I was worrying that the police cuts had forced them to employ Playmobil people and big black glove-powered patrol cars.
(BTW, submit this to The Register as they love Playmobil!)

They went brand name with that, and a quality truck! Faceless, generic dolls and a cardboard truck for the Akihabara stabbing… http://japandra.blogspot.com/2008/06/stabby.html

This reminds me of when little kids try to reenact events with toys as well. Who knew that someone could make a living doing this sort of thing!

Rhythm and Police, from the Bayside Shakedown (踊る大捜査線, Odoru Daisōsasen) movies. The TV series used a more Orchestra-Based Theme song.
US folks might’ve seen the TV show retitled as “The Spirited Criminal Investigative Network”.

This is hilarious. I noted that news shows are very visual, in that they always have charts and stuff, but this is a completely new level!
