Japanese company sells ice beer mugs

A news report introduces a company in Tokyo that is making and selling ice beer mugs:
The mugs are carved from blocks of ice and mailed to people who order them over the internet. They cost 580 yen each. Apparently one mug can last about an hour in the summer heat before melting.

Nothing like a nice watered down beer to make you go YUCK!!!!
That’s probably the worse thing to drink beer… Very cold beer isn’t great.
Beer isn’t great period.
Spoken like a true Englishman
If I wanted an ice beer mug, I’d look for a mold so I could make my own for essentially free … but I guess there’s no profit in that.
This has to be the most useless product I’ve ever seen.
Cold beer is good, but watered down beer is crap.
And I agree with “helical”. If I wanted ice mugs I’d make my own from a mold. With how screwed up the economy is now, who can afford something so ridiculous and wasteful.
The Japanese?
With the cheap beers, ice cold is the ONLY way to drink them. I don’t think anyone’s gonna be putting craft ales in these. And I’m pretty sure the ice would hold up for the length of a beer – how slowly do you chaps drink?
$6-$8 for the mug on top of the price of a beer? No thanks.
I would rather put a rootbeer float in it!
^_^
For heaven’s sake… who let out the grumpy old men to comment on this thread?
This looks like a cool idea
and there would definitely be a welcome impetus to drink heavily before it melts. I’m going to order a couple to have a memorable ice-cold beer with my wife this weekend… she’d love it.
I wouldn’t bother since the stuff would just make my beer watery as hell.
