Swallow nest inside house in Japan

July 15th, 2009 by James

A pair of swallows somehow built a nest inside the kitchen of a home in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the owners of the house have decided not to disturb it:

The owner of the house is leaving the window to the room open 24/7 so that the swallows can fetch food for their young.

It’s nice until your kitchen floor is plastered in bird crap…

Surprising to see that in JPN where people generally have pretty stringent ideas about sanitation. This sort of dumbassery can spark an H5N1 outbreak.

I saw a documentary the other day on how some swallows in California learned to use the automatic doors at a Home Depot in order to enter the store before closing. Apparently, the birds saw it as a perfect place to nest as the temperature was right and there was not danger. The store owner and workers even like having them around.

yea, its not that uncommon of an occurrence for birds to take refuge in such huge stores.
