Bear swims out to island for seagull feast

Fishermen in Iwate Prefecture have made an odd discovery: a bear hanging out on a tiny island!

The bear is believed to have crossed several hundred meters of water so that he can feast on the sea birds that nest on the island. A fisherman says he’s seen the bear on the island several times in the past, and an expert explains this by commenting on how bears are quite capable of memorizing good hunting spots.

Sorry… it’s computer/video game slang.

In shooting game matches, if your character dies/is killed, there are usually certain set places on the stage where you re-enter the match. “Coming back to life” in these games is called “spawning”, and these points where you spawn are called “spawn points”.
“Camping” is a term for tactics where players lie and wait in ambush. It’s often frowned upon because it seems unfair to the players who are suddenly blindsided and killed.
Camping spawn points is considered very poor manners. Players who spawn always need a moment to orient themselves and always start off at a set location, so it is very easy to take advantage of as you know exactly where to aim and they won’t be able to fight back for a moment. It is considered unfair as well as frustrating to the players who are killed immediately after they start.

This bear would be a sitting duck (sitting bear??) for a hunter, so he’s lucky that he hasn’t drawn attention from that quarter yet.

As for fairness in a shooting game … I guess the rules could be changed.
