70 years since the Nomonhan Incident

Seventy years have passed since the Nomonhan Incident (Battle of Khalkhin Gol), a undeclared war between the USSR/Mongolia and Japan that was fought on the Mongolia/Manchuria border. To mark the anniversary, the Asahi Shimbun sent a photographer to the region. A video slide show can be viewed here (audio in Japanese, but even those who don’t understand the language can enjoy the photos).
