Emotional Robot KOBIAN
Meet KOBIAN, a creepy new Japanese robot that show “emotions” with its face:
The robot is installed with 48 “actuators” which allow its face and body to move in a variety of ways.
It shows happiness by opening its eyes and mouth wide and raising its arms, and sorrow by drooping its head and covering its eyes.
The robot’s hands are covered with a soft material which is supposed to replicate the feeling of a human hand.

I admit I haven’t read the fine details regarding this robot but can anyone tell me how this is any different from robots we’ve seen for decades? From what I’ve gathered so far it’s programmed to make a face and/or strike a pose to display certain emotions – which is basically just a slightly fancier upgrade from animatronics we’ve seen at Disney and Chuck E Cheese’s restaurants for many, many years.
Am I missing some extra feature(s) that sets this robot apart? Does it give me an angry look when I tell it to do the dishes? Does it give me the passive “iya” look when I try to have sex with it?
