Lady Gaga in Japan

Lady Gaga has come to give a few concerts in Japan:
Apparently Lady Gaga has some fans in Japan, and even a few young women who seek to emulate her hideously ugly style. We can only hope that “Mezamashi TV” is just exaggerating her popularity.
Included in the clip is a scene of Gaga visiting a kimono shop. She shows up wearing some sort of goth loli outfit, which looks pretty terrible when combined with the ganguro-esque make-up she has on (the shop clerk is shocked when she takes off her sunglasses!). When she puts on a pink kimono, she feels like a “Japanese barbie.”

Lady Gaga looks fake, just as men dressing as women looks fake. That’s reality, not a phobia. Pointing out the obvious is not hate speech, but making punitive wishes for someone’s children and grandchildren is rather hateful.

I don’t know what all the bitching is about. Lady Gaga is a singer/performer and her appearance is part of her success and the reason for her being #1 simultaneously in so many countries.
She hasn’t done anything bad and she wasn’t rude or offensive in Japan. Some of the commenters here don’t like her makeup but considering most of the commenters on this site are male English teachers in their 30s, I don’t think she’d really care.
Yes, I am a fan of Lady Gaga, and so are thousands of others. Save your breath bitching about neo-Nazis and dictators rather than singers who experiment with makeup.

Thank you. I was just about to say what you’re saying now. Just because she doesn’t wear a freaking shorts and t-shirt doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with her, and just because she’s not like you doesn’t mean she’s doing anything wrong. I mean, honestly….when you start caring what celebrities are doing, you pretty much stop having a life right there. Stalking’s still not cool, neither is criticizing an event, style, or circumstances you barely know anything about. I think she went a bit lost in the fashion dos and don’ts here too, but I’m not being so freaking rude about it, because I’m no fashion designer.
Also, it’s not goth loli, the style she’s wearing is just lolita, specifically shiro (white) lolita. Most lolita would say she did well on the outfit, but should probably lose the makeup, as the lolita style is about having a fantasty and childlike air, meaning the makeup should be only to correct imperfections or enhance the face, while keeping a natural look. It’s become very annoying to lolita to be all dressed to the nines in pink and baby blue, only to have goth or gothic added to their true title. I mean, it makes sense, right? Criticizing without research……what an awful thing we have here. Hey, aren’t you the ones who live in Japan, anyway?
