Arab satellite TV network to produce 30 episodes on moral lessons from Japan

I admire al-Shugairi’s ambitions, but if he wants to find a good example of a country that enforces zealous public cleanliness, perhaps he should have chosen Singapore.

The Oshin series was hugely popular in Iran. I thought it was just the ladies I knew in Japan, but apparently it got so popular it threatened a lot of people who didn’t like the idea of a Godless infidel becoming such a role model for young Muslim women: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367380/.

I see where you’re coming from, and thought of that myself. I looked deep into my soul, past my handsome gaijin outer-shell, and realized we are all the same on the inside.

And those salary-men that jumped over the drunk homeless guy will probably never know how it feels to be him, because before they let themselves get that drunk and hopeless they would have long before jumped in front of the Chuo Line train to end it all after getting fired from their job, their wife kicking them out of their home, and family and friends disowning them.

This program is really awesome! It shows the similarities between Japanese and arabic culture, and how the japanese culture adapt much of the Islamic learning, something the arabs unfortunately are bad at, that’s why Islam has gained a bad reputation. The clean streets-example was just one example, but generally, it’s all about the fact that the Middle East want to hold on to the culture and tradition, and many people there think it’s bad to develope because it means to change the culture and tradition. This program shows us why the Japanese people keep their traditions, their kimonos, their temples and prayers, their wisdom, their morals… yet Japan is one of the most developed, high-tech countries. Why can’t Middle Eastern people think that way? The Quran teaches us to work hard, to learn the science and gain knowledge from all the world, to make good efforts to develope the society. Instead, Middle Eastern oil sheikhs are sitting next to their money that they love so much (while half of the population doesn’t have money enough to pay for the children’s education), and coming up with suggestions like “let’s make a mall!” But there really are too many malls existing! “Anyway, let’s make a mall between those two malls!”…

Another problem is the parking places. It’s HELL of a problem that’s annoying me so much! Why do people park as if they are the only ones using the road?! When looking at the parked cars, it really looks as though the drivers suddenly stopped their cars and went out of them, without further thoughts about whether they are properly parked. That’s another thing that the program shows example on.

And for the love of God, people ARE equally valued in Islam, so why are Middle Eastern so ignorant and treat people so different? Why are Indians treated like dirt? In one of the episodes of the program, they ask an Indian, who works in a gas station, about his work. He answered that he works 13 hours a day, with NO pauses/breaks like lunch break, and 7 days a week. And the chief calls himself a true muslim. How is this Islam? None of it is! Remeber people, we live in a crucially corrupted world, with a lot of ignorant people, only interested in their own good, it doesn’t matter if he’s muslim or christian or atheists. And they come and point fingers at each other saying “They know nothing, they are the biggest threat towards us peacefully people!” Stop pointing fingers and visit each other’s homes, you’ll find the same greed in each other’s hearts.

As I am an arab girl, grown up in Europe, I’ve seen the best and the worse of both “worlds”. This has allowed me to see the similarities of both worlds too. As someone here said, I looked past my gaijin outer-shell(as I am a foreigner in Europe), and realized we’re all the same on the inside. Don’t think I’m someone who’s given up on her identity and hates arabs and moved to Europe to forget her roots. Nope, I still love my culture and am proud to be an arab and muslim, I still visit my home country, and tell my relatives about the amazing cultures and traditions outside the arab world, about the awesome science and the funniest solutions to problems that arabs still have. That’s why I’m really keen on getting to know other cultures and learning from them, and I think that all people around the world should see with their own eyes, and learn about other cultures, religions and ethnicities, because Media does First and Foremost exist to sell! As it is a main port to other continents, the truth isn’t as important as the money that certain topics tend to give.

The program was aired during Ramathan (happend to be during September this year), the month of fasting and reflecting about one’s own life and what to make better, how to become a better muslim. Very suitable period actually. Hopefully it will be translated, because it’s an important show.

Omg, I have really written too much, but after reading some posts here, I got upset on how people respond with clearly no clues of what arabs means and what Islam means.
